Meet Dr. Raichelle Garcia

Raichelle earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Pennsylvania State University in 2002, then continued on to receive her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Slippery Rock University in 2005. Though born in Puerto Rico, she was raised primarily near Allentown, PA, before moving to the Hampton Roads area 6 years ago. She came to the area as a traveling physical therapist, and as such, she has experience working with patients from a multitude of backgrounds ranging from post-stroke, joint replacements, to general debility. Raichelle is looking forward to learning more about Integrative Manual Therapy and using that as another tool in her physical therapy practice. Outside of physical therapy, she also enjoys teaching and helping people learn more about financial literacy and improving their personal finances.

What do you enjoy most about being a PT?

I enjoy being able to help people. When someone has pain or functional limitations and then they start to feel better, I like knowing that I had a part in their healing.

If you weren't a PT what would you do for a job?

I currently work as a financial coach outside of PT, however if I didn't do that I would do something with travel. Either I'd be a travel agent or a traveling blogger. Also, because I love helping people, I could see myself doing some sort of motivational speaking.

What's the most recent book you've read for fun?

What to Say When you Talk to Yourself by Shad Helmstetter

What is the most valuable life lesson you've ever learned?

God is in control, and everything will work out in the end. Because of this, there's no sense in worrying.

What would you sing at karaoke night?

I only sing in the shower, but I love Journey so I would probably sing "Don't Stop Believing" if I could.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

I love Europe and would go back to Italy or Spain in a heartbeat. I haven't been to France but I think I would love to live there too!

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I don't have a favorite meal, but I love Mediterranean food!

What's your favorite form of exercise?

Zumba or any form of Dance!

Do you collect anything?

Pens

What's your favorite thing to do on the weekends?

Because I stay so busy during the week, what I most enjoy doing is just staying home and reading or just sitting by the beach!
